About Faroese Meteorological Office

Faroese Meteorological Office (FMO) produces weather forecasts and warnings for the land and sea areas of the Faroe Islands in collaboration with the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI). FMO covers the task in office hours on weekdays and DMI covers nightshifts and weekends. The tasks of FMO are as stipulated in the Financial Act section 5.31.1.07:

• Develop a Faroese weather service.
• Produce weather forecasts.
• Distribute weather information to the Faroese end users on appropriate platforms.
• Conduct relevant weather measurements for the area.
